The score is the sum of the points below, rounded to one decimal place, out of a possible 37.5. Caps stop very large firms or review counts from crowding out everyone else.
Google reviews
up to 8.5 points- Has a Google Business Profile with reviews: 1
- 0.05 per review, up to 100 reviews: 5
- 0.5 × star rating: 2.5 for a 5-star rating
Team size & experience
up to 10 points- 0.2 per lawyer, up to 20 lawyers: 4
- 0.2 per year of average experience, up to 30 years: 6

Questions answered
Does membership change rankings?
No. Scores and rankings are worked out the same way for every firm. Membership changes one thing: when several firms fit an enquiry, member firms are contacted first.
How often are scores updated?
Every day. Reply and acceptance figures cover the last 30 days, so a firm that starts answering enquiries again moves back up within a month.
Are practice‑area badges comparable across areas?
Yes. Badges compare each firm with every active firm in New Zealand, not just firms in the same practice area.
How can firms improve their score?
Answer every enquiry, even to decline it, within 24 hours. Get in touch quickly with the clients you accept. Ask happy clients for Google reviews, and add your website, logo and social profiles to your profile.
