Dawn Legal (NZ) is a sole practice run by Holly Hedley, a qualified Barrister and Solicitor with specialist expertise across health, employment, privacy and human rights law. She also acts as an independent investigator and works as a researcher, writer and educator. Dawn Legal aims to deliver high quality legal services underpinned by compassion and pragmatism, with a focus on practical outcomes for clients in sensitive, sector-specific contexts. Her work sits at the intersection of health, employment, privacy and human rights law, including advising on adverse events in the health sector and operating within coronial, ACC and PPPR jurisdictions.

She is an experienced employment lawyer who often acts as an investigator in highly sensitive areas such as sexual harm or discrimination. Through Dawn Legal she combines legal practice with wider academic, teaching and reform interests, and she serves as convenor of the New Zealand Law Society’s Health and Disability Law Committee. Holders include a Masters of Global Health Law from Georgetown University, and she is actively developing knowledge on trauma-informed legal practice for Aotearoa New Zealand, including training in restorative practice to support just, informed outcomes.
